....I dont like what im reading,Obama should be pledging lots and lots MORE ppl to afghanistan to helmmand to kill all the taliban once and for all as well as searching the pakistan border areas in the tribal lands for osama bin laden, istead we get this piss???This is his 1sdt major blunder imo,i know a lot are against his stimulus but this is worse, did our boys die for nothing? We should leave them nations the way we found them or at least better but not bloodstained and levelled to the ground by cluster bombs and shit.Iraq IS a bog we gotta get out of buts lets at least leave a PROPER peace force made up of arab league nations instead of the pussy U.N:ponder:? OBAMA YOU JUST MISSED YOUR 1ST CHANCE TO COME UP WITH A CREDIBLE WITHDRAWAL PLAN EVEN HORNY OLD BILL WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF..BUT YOU CHOOSE TO JUST SQUIRT YER JIZZ ON THE BLACK DRESS THAT IS iRAQ /AFGHANISTAN :budporn::jerk:

I sw this article below and the reason i thought i would post this article cos recently in politics we have all been speculating and arguing about not just the Obama 'stimulus' package but ALSO his retreat plans for Iraq & Afganistan. The ONE MAJOR DOUBT i have stated on this forum both before and after the election was regarding his 'pull out strategy' which i said was totally flawed.... reading this i can only come to one conclusion....it STILL IS FLAWED:icon_scratch: ...

I thought that with Obama being such a well travelled man that he would be americas most knowledgable president on FOREIGN AFFAIRS than the past few ,he KNOWS the state of nations on ALL continents yet he somehow dont seem to grasp the fact that, sure it was Bush that went to war in these places, but you cant use your predesecors blunders be your excuse for what hes about to do:eusa_nono::eusa_naughty:

Obama MUST realize that in the event of a total pull out by a specific date that all the taliban and al quieda and Iraqi Insurgants are gonna do is sit back, chill and stockpile weapons and bombs until that date:eusa_doh:.. it imo is a disgrace to ppl iv known and ppl you have all known who have went to war and returned with limbs missing or some ppl aint returned at all,the departed:icon_salut:...and for WHAT????:sad4:

Now Obama is gonna come in and do the one thing i had hoped he wouldnt do from day one and that was this as quoted in the APP article iv copy pasted:angry7: BELIEVE ME WITHIN A YEAR HELMAND PPROVINCE WILL BE GROWING 10 TIMES AS MUCH OPIUM,MARIJUANA,ETC THAN EVER BEFORE COS THEY HAVE BEEN STOCKPILING IT IN THE CAVES COMPLEXES AT PLACES SO REMOTE THEY CANNOT BE FOUND UNLESS A LOCAL NATIVE GUIDES YOU...

Helmand province is an area the size of france ,its bigger than the UK and all the taliban and Osama bin laden are hiding out there in the tribal lands and they retreat to the cave complex at night, the UKs very own ELITE S.A.S and S.B.S along with americas delta force and the rangers are our best fighting forces in the world yet they cant even enter helmand freely:eek:

Same in Iraq,as soon as western troops are gone Iran will send over so many of its terrorist organisations to try and take over Iraq and in doing so they will beome a super power not just in the midleeast but they will be the worlds first true superpower who will be able to mix with the big boys like USA,china,UK,france and Russia and Canada aswell as Japan, they will be like pakistan and india as the 1st nation in their regions for producing the 1st nuclar weapon, they already have started a lot of naval excercises where they will test it in the ocean for the first tme!!!!!

BASICALLY I THINK OBAMA IS GOING DOWN THE WRONG ROAD,HE IS LISTENING TO SOME OF THE MILITARY MEN THAT GOT US INTO THIS QUAGMIRE OF A MESS THATS OUR GENERATIONS VIETNAM OR KOREA:sad4: If Pres.Obama doesnt take a rethink then he too like Bush may find himself as micheal mooores new subject for a book and accompanying film(although i heard farenheight 9/11 was banned in america? It was in the cinemas over here) if he fucks up on this huge huge issue.....

If i was obama and im not,i would go to the arab league leaders EGYPT and SYRIA(both vast but mainly moderate and civilised to a point in their views against the west) and ask or even PAY them to enter Iraq and act as a peacekeeping army cos theres no way any muslim extremists are gonn take on their muslim brothers and their superiors in the region, they could keep Iran out of Iraq and they could finish of the job the USA and the UK sahould be doing themselves:disgust:

As for afghanistan, all i will say is this, back in the days of the british empire we tried to overtake Iraq with our best desert fighting forces, the same ones that had fought in the crimera or the same ones who would lay siege to napolean in north africa as they both raced to claim egypt(the UK cut all his men down in an ambush almost by just laying in wait for them to race towards alexandria where the brits already were)....

My point being, the brits were bogged down in afghanistan for nearly 100 years on and off until they simply did what the russians mighty soviet empire did and finally retreated for good having been outwitted with all their might against a few arabs with horses and basic machine gun artillery nd a few RPG''s and C4 explosives which they now have but their machine guns ,although prolly the worlds most durable, they are relics to what 'our boys' have these days>>>>>>

I just want to say that this is President Barack Hussein Obamas FIRST military faux pas aka BLUNDER of monumental proporsions of his term so far,to me this says that all them bodies brought home fought for nothing, except their own band of brothers,i had a guy i know, google his name(Gordon Gentle age 17 or 18 GLASGOW) he was killed as soon as he got to Iraq cos he didnt have the up to date armour protecting equipment on and he had only recieved 3 months training in the territoral army which is like our = to your US army reserves, his mum was so outraged that she tried to fight the ovt to be a mmbr of parliament so she could ask the questions in parliament we all wanted answering but she missed out by "a narrow margin". My point is we sent a lot of BOYS out there unequipped to do mens jobs,i fully agree that we need to get out of Iraq....but theres no way,not a chance in hell should we be leaving the afghan regio as it will descend into chao and UN trops are of no use there.AFGANISTAN IS THE BASE FOR EVERY JIHAD AND TERRORIST GROUP AGAINST THE WEST!! We need a permanent presence their anbd we need to remove pres karzai from office, hes a lame disgrace and propper elections shoud be held,if we dont take aghansitan more seriously the opium and MJ cash will son put the taliban and al quieda back on top...what if they launced an offensive against pakistan and won, they would hold nuclear bmbs and a whole industry to share with Iran!!!! This really worries me that both our govt's should be acting to 'bla-se' about it all....Obama aint a military men so in that respect hes gonna listen to his joint chiefs, the same ones who went to war in iraq and afghan region in the 1st place::icon_scratch: Im sorry Obama but between the link mermaid introduced me to and others iv read and now this shitty exit plan of yours i am becoming slightly concered that any hopes i had of you being a maverick JFK type pres are fading to black man, your olive branch to Iraq didnt work neither and a president who is unsure of how to act in times of pweril is....well juust look at G.W.Bush reding some kids a book for 18 minutes AFTER hhes just been told the nation was under attck. Can we get ay worse...will we get worse???Mermaid i'll give round one to you on the " i told you so" battle, lol, slowly but surely you MAY turn me against Obama ,lol,i aint his biggest fan but i WAS rootin and a tootin for him to win and i truly believe mc caine would have done no better so the best man one but lets just say Obama better start pulling white rabbits outta hats and making 20 dollar bills appear inside my bottle of bud i he wants to start IMPESSING ME:eusa_snooty:peace::bongin:

to me this situation seems like a scary time with no cut and dried solutions. he got into office by promising a timetable he actually WOULD stick to. now he has to deliver... but it's a protracted period, not just a fly in and grab our boys situation. he's trying to do the best compromise he can while keeping his promises.

we'll see how this turns out. i agree with you... if we're going to police that area of the world then we sure as hell shouldn't half-ass it and make way for a worse problem. if that area was not west-friendly before, how much better will it be after 2 years of bombing--- and the SAME PEOPLE are causing problems that started it? if I lived there, i'd grab my gun right this instant and feel totally justified... and i'm sure the influential figures in the area will make sure that that is the popular mindset. the terrorist organization leaders are spin masters, and we've made their job a lot easier. we've painted them as oppressed survivors.

well, at least we still got this! :passit:

    skunky labor smoke'n lumberjack

If you ask me you guys need to chill the fuck out and read what the article said. Doesn't say he is pulling everyone out and also you think those marines and shit want to still be over there? HELL NO! I know a good deal of people in the marines, and army. None of them want to be over their. You think the Master wanted to go back? I doubt it! We should have never even been in iraq in the first fucking place Iran would have made more sense or just to stay in afghanistan like we should have. I guess 30,000-50,000 troops isn't enough to help assist them, shit they need to learn to stand on their two feet we should have to stay there for ever and hold these mother fuckers hands for everything. We are not the worlds babysitter!

  5. CCrete

    CCrete Mr. Poopyfacepeepeehead

Hell yeah SKUNKY! Another of the MAIN reasons for troop withdrawl and lesser amounts of troops is MONEY! Our country is running out of it.....Obama didnt MISS a damn thing in this case.....hes being smart and not dropping billions more in moving the mass majority of troops to another spot. The guys is just trying to keep american money in america, where it belongs! Screw these needy people and their lifetime of wars, that they create........I get along with my asshole, opionionated neighbor just fine......I hate him to be honest, but we dont make war over our differances........and it doesnt cost us money.......It just isnt americas fault and we dont always have to help

I for one approve of the proposed new strategy in Afghanistan for the past couple years its been a democracy building effort and trying to win the peoples hearts and minds...Well the locals don't really care about democracy or building a better place to live. They just want to be left alone to their own ways. So Im all for flooding the country with combat troops and go on a strict seek and destroy mission for al qaeda/taliban forces.

The red one is helmand province. The population is 740,000 and the surface area is 58,584 square kilometres

TA you were way off about helmand. Metropolitan France covers 547,030 square kilometres (211,209 sq mi),

Helmand is a relatively calm area of Afghanistan (unless people are trying to burn their crops) 2 provinces to the right of Helmand is where the biggest problems are.

I gotta agree with the pull out myself. I say it's ABOUT DAMN TIME!

The middle east is a fucking mess after Bush fucked it all up (he was fore-warned of this too)...I'll give you that much AP, but there's no solution to the problem and to throw more money and troops at the problem won't fix it now. In war...sometimes you have to know when to cut your losses and go home. As they say...it's never too late to turn around if you're headed down the wrong path. We need a new path now.....IMO our troops need to be HERE providing for our nation's security...not on the other side of the globe. Besides....we're broke....no matter what else....we can no longer afford to support ANY war...period.

    That's what I'm worried about.

I know what you mean Herb, but since there isn't going to be anybody marching onto our shores anytime soon, I fear what "providing for our nations security" would entail.

IMO whether we pull out now, or in 10 years, the region is going straight back to hell as soon as we leave anyway.

I see what ya mean Joe....I agree with what you're saying based on that premise. I'm talking about what we need to do. We need a REAL government running the show and we need our military to protect our borders. Mexico is one of two nations most likely to fall into chaos soon....that's not to mention the illegals coming in already. Our military was meant to provide for the common defense of our nation....not others. We need to put them back on the job they were meant to do.

    I agree.

I see a lot of people say, 'why didn't he just do it like desert storm, send in 575,000 troops and be done with it'. Well, originally we were out to go after 'terrorists'. I think they should pull a fuck ton of troops, and start utilizing the CIA and all of the outsourced intelligence agencies and utilize reliable information based attacks.

You can almost put the 'terrorists' on the same scale as a very organized drug organization in a major city. They make TONS of money, use prepaid cellphones to call one another, but never answer, once the call is made, they destroy the phone and meet at a location previously set by a face to face meeting[sometimes without words at all{pictures}. If you think about it, it costs the law enforcement agencies a ridiculous amount of money to catch organizations that have an extremely low amount of overhead to run their operations. 5,000$+ pieces of equipment + very skilled individuals to catch one 'crew'. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but if people would just live and let live, alot of things would work themselves out.

I have friends that are so convinced that they are being 'wire tapped', with no clue on the amount of paper work and money it takes to do such a thing, espcially when you can have one sim card with up to 12 numbers on it(all pre-paid)[there is a way to put up to 12 numbers on one SIM] that you switch at random along with pay phones.

Simply, the laws of the world aren't capable of keeping up with the criminals. If you have the choice between making 100 street arrests for minor possesion charges and 1 MAJOR arrest[no C.I.'s] that will require many man hours and expensive equipment and paperwork, you are going to take the 100 street arrests for the papers and the stats. I don't think they want us to know how many tax dollars it cost to take down a single drug organization that was FOR THE MOST part only affecting those already in that circle.

I think the mafia is a good example.

I think the 'war on drugs' and the 'war on terrorism' are directly related.

I'm high, slightly drunk and angry, so this post might seem like just a ramble, and if it does, I'm sorry. I had to get this off my chest.

SURELY to fuck me at LEAST gotta leave Iraq in a better cndition than when we invaded

I too have friends in the forces both family and local friends and one thing they all agreed on is that basra(where the UK had control in Iraq) was never a war the UK should have been involved in...Afghanistan however is a different kettle of fish so to speak, lol. They had an extremist taliban regime that oppressed its ppl, they harbored desrires to overtake the region including Iran and after fighting of the mighty red russian army ,Iran believed it possible so apart from the fact the taliban did all that, they also allowed osama bin laden to train thousands of 'jihad durka durkas'(holy warriors:icon_wink:)and their ever groweing drug empire was a thornin the wests side so they really were a problem and after the horrible events of 9/11 and the fact al quiade were BASED there then THAT made logical sense to attack that nation but NEVER iraq:bduh:

Apart from that Skunky i MOSTLY agree and understand fully what your saying regrding 'our troops'(UK,france,USA,nato,UN,etc) and civilians like firefighting "master" who dont wanna go back ,but thats IRAQ where as you stated we should never have been there in the 1st place, the only reason was cos of the wests paranoia about WMD'S plus the tasty bounty of invading the nation with the second biggest oil reserves in the world... or that region at least,i forget:eusa_doh:... and yes Iran is THEE superpower out there like i said and thats my point Skunky,as soon as the allies move out they will move in and thats scary, not only that,it more or less guarantees another WEST Versus Iran/Iraq war in a decades time which will make this one seem like a stroll in the park i fear:eek::sad4:

Yes skunky they should learn to stand on their own feet but the problem is there wouldnt be this mess if dick cheney in all his wisdom made it his 1st order of business in Iraq after the "victory" was to sack all 500,000 of the elite republiocan guard:eusa_naughty:...that was dumb man, them guys all had families to feed, plus they knew where the stockpiles of bombs and shit was,if they hadnt been sacked then there would have been no 'vacum' of power that allowed the looters and insurgants to go on the rampage, the r/guard could have taken orders from america and allies and worked for us instead of being made redundant and becoming terrorists cos war is all they know just like our marines and your marines. Finally NO america nor the UK or any other nation SHOULD HAVE to be no ones baby sitter

:eusa_think:...but come on skunky dude,if we invade them countries and cos chaos and all in the name of NOTHING!:sad4:(there was never no alquaida there,Dubya was just doing what UK PM maggie thatcher told Bush snr to do in desert storm which was to finish saddam there and then and america bottled it and left all the kurds, rebels who suported them to die:angry7:,Bush jnr was just clearing up one of daddies old foes and getting some oil into the bargain, just my :2c:)I digress...>>

:icon_stop:..but surely skunky if we invade and destroy a nations economy, industry ,culture and actually cos more trouble than before we entered what with shiites and sunni muslims in the army and cop forces using their badges to basically act as sectarian killing squads under our watch and cos of our invasion then surely we MUST be helld accountable or at LEAST leave that nation in the state we found it,preferebbly better

....otherwise what was the point in ALL our boys being brought home draped in our flags:sad4::ponder:All im saying is skunky we as nations that peddle or force democracy upon others just cos we think we are in the right, then we must demonstrate our humanity by at least improving these nations and making sure they are stable when we leave, the UK didnt do that with rhodesia ,now zimbabwe, and look at the mess over there, other nations like sierra leone are good examples but none of them are on the scale of possible disaster for the peace loving ppl of Iraq who never asked for this war and now they have lost everything from their own terrosit ppl aswell as invading forces.I watched some harrowing bbc and channel 4 documenatries on this shit not to mention guantanamo bay (THAT WAS PRES.OBAMAS FIORST ORDER OF BUSINESS TO CLOSEIT AND A GREAT START TO HIS ADMINISTRATION,I APPLUAD HIM FOR THAT:eusa_clap:)...we MUSTY be accountable for our actions, this aint like korea, the falklans and vietnam, things are different now and considering the UN voted against our invasion of Oraq then we must at least help the iraqi ppl regain some sort of stable life surely skunky:ponder: Your a learned guy, surely you gotta admit that the current proposals are not ideal looking at them from a realistic point of view:ponder:Peace man:ebert:

Chris amigo:ebert:Sure money, especially at this moment in time ,is a major detail but anothwer school of thought could argue that we spend more trying to send shuttles into space to other planets, etc all in the name of exploration and discovery and maybe spending money on the 'here and now' is money better spent,i guess it all depends on what way you look at it,im a LIBRA so i tend to try view both sides of the coin and even thiNk outside the box now and then:icon_lol:...

Going into afgansitan was a priority, they had traind sophisticated cells of terrorists worldwide via extremists mosques and for the fiorst time the west had a faceless enemy with no uniform to identify them by,in england and scotland in the UKK there are thousands of ppl wh seem everyday arabs or pakistanis yet the glasgow airport and 7/7 bombing on the london transport system during he G8 summit was plotted by respectable UK citizens who were doctors and some other cells the same have been caught before they got to do their nasty deedd:angry4: The UK has a massive problem with young radical muslims and it all stems from afgansitan...that is a war and a nation that both america and he UK cannot afford to walk away from and as for Iraq,I AM ALL FOR TROOPS WOTHDRAWAL AS IT WAS A POINTLESS WAR IN THE SAME WAY VITENAM WAS A PERPLEXING WAR TO MAY OF THAT TIME,WE WERE WRONG TO ATTACK IRAQ AND WE WILL BE WRONG IF WE LEAVE THSESE NATIONS IN WORSE STATES THAN WE FOUND THEM:icon_nono::siskel:

I truly hope from reading some recent political posts that at a time like this in the world america doesnt do what it did in the last recession/depression and adopt an isolationist view of the world,a kind of ostrichin the sand mentality' cos look what happened the last time america decided to tune out of the outside world and europe!

Their were world wars going on while america pllayed it more neutral than the swiss and that says sumiit, sure america came through to save the day in he end but look at the toll of lives. If america wanta to be the biggest superpower and call the shots hen they must step upo to the plate at all times and lead by example, its the gift and the curse, having all that power brings with it great responsibility, this isnt about america bashing, this is about UNITY,we are all in this TOGETHER wheterh ppl like to admit it or not,the frican union, the USA(soon to be north american union followed by south american union) then the european union followed by the asian union and the league of arab nations will soon be mor or less the world union and THATS WHEN SHIT HITS THE FAN,thats the sort of shit i fear for my kids and their kids but mentime we gotta do whats right and leave nations we invaded in better conditons than we left them surely:ponder:Peace:potleaf:

PS: I agree astro on your comments, the question is WHAT THOUGH:ponder:...oh and after seeing him on tv can i just second that post chanting R-O-N- P-A-U-L:rocker:

Obamas got his 6 shooters ready for a duel at high noon...

.... in keeping with the theme of watching how Pres.Obamas first several months go by compared to Bush and his several month vacation until he was abruptly woekn by 9/11:sad4:

BTW i think for a so called novice Obama has hit the ground running in his 'deuls' with the senate for cash for his stimulus, hes presistant and although republicans may fight tooth and nail to refuse it im sure he will offer them some incentives to get the stimulus passed,as they do in politics~:icon_wink: Either that or a duel on the whitehouse lawn.(BTW is it true some prsiodent or v/p actually had a duel on the w/house lawn back in the days of Olde:ponder:)

Obama s 1st propper executive order to close guantaamo bay for good was a great call, making hillary clinton his fall guy...ehm i mean his sec of state is genius and although i dont agree with his iraq and afghanistan withdrawla plans(too much too soon, even bush jnr admitted it could take 10 years to even think about leaving ,he said that back when he started the wars along with tony blair),i gotta say,he aint afraid to show ppl he aint no amateur....check this out and post your opion from the associated press an hour ago.Peace:redbong:

Anywhos it is not that I even want to say I told ya so>>just he is a politician so I expect this from all of them. ;) Shame he is not the free thinker most thought he was and who do you think pull his puppet strings?

Even if he wanted to do the right thing or keep campaign promises, government will not let him for the President is not the decision maker as most think. Wish we had someone with the balls to do so but ahhhh we are stuck in corporate america until the people take our nation back.

As for this war.....i have so many mixed feelings as I want security to know we will never be attacked yet I want our troops home. My son in-law leaves this month again so of course I am worried for him and the frds/family I have over there already.

    PutTheKnivesOn Superspartaaaaa

I generally dont post in the politics forum, mainly because it is filled with the american view of the world, and rightly so being an american site. But my view and i dont intend to offend, is that the american govt has brought all this mess upon itself. When the dam starts to crumble there are only so many fingers to plug holes with. Obama has come into a very tricky job, especially due to what he inherited, and its now such a mess im not even sure he could fix it.

I just finished watching a very interesting three part documentary called "Iran and the west" and i urge you to seek out and download this doco. It documents the history of the area from the time the Shah was put into power in the early 50's with help from the cia, through the 1979 iranian revolution when the shah was overthrown to current times. Changed my view on that part of the world a lot and made me realise that comparing the U.s to iran is like comparing apples to oranges. Both stubborn pricks that are bound to eventually clash.

Found the beginning of the doco here
