This is the one that started out with crumpled leaves when it was a baby. Now it has caught up with the rest and I think it will be female because of its short stature and...well, it's hard to describe. If you look carefully you can almost pick out the males and females when they are first starting their growrth spurt, even before preflower.

Tired of coughing up phlegm?? Here at GrowKind we switched from smoking to vaporizing 10 years ago, and our lungs have never felt better. In that time we have tried every vaporizer you can think of including domes, digital vaporizers, light bulbs, heat guns, and the volcano. Some work better than others but after all that time we still go back every day to our vape pens. Do yourself and your lungs a favor and head over to Vaporwarehouse. Don't Smoke! -- Vaporize!

Boxes are for squares These seedlings are growing in an old dresser that has been converted into a temporary grow box. But don't worry, they're movin on up :) 06/17/04
New accomodations I have been working on this rough box since the seeds were planted. The plants started under compact fluorescents, soon to be moved into this growbox with a 400W HPS. I still have to paint the inside white, hang the door, mount the light, etc., but that will all be done soon enough. I'm using small waste buckets instead of plastic pots this time because they take up less room and I'm not going to grow the plants as big this time. 06/17/04
GrowBox details presented by Bob This box was not designed for stealth. It is just a small place to grow a couple plants without using an entire room. Check back in a day or two for the finished pics. 06/17/04
Two weeks later You can see the box is complete now. It has a 400W HPS and a small fan, plus a vinyl duct that brings in cool air from another room. They seem to be doing well even though the temps are 85-90 degrees during the day. That's about five degrees above what I would consider optimal, but the amount of ventilation has made up for the warm conditions. 06/28/04
Close up This plant is in the back left of the group shot. 06/28/04
Tight, bushy nodes With the 400W this close, the plant doesn't stretch a bit. Without proper ventilation, though, this plant would be toast! 06/28/04
Healthy plant Maybe the best of the four. This one is in the front, on the left. 06/28/04
24 hr. difference They really seem to go crazy the evening and morning after they get water, bout every four days now. Soon they will need a soak every other day. The bushiness of these plants just blows my mind. i only have room for bonzai buds so I'm going to flower them a bit early, maybe 5 days before they reach sexual maturity. 06/30/04
Leftorium Close-up of the two plants on the left with their young leaves cupped toward the light. 06/30/04

this big bitch the plant in the front left of the group shot (DAMN I should just name em) is big, already stinkin like a skunk, and I'm pretty sure it will be male. Similar to a plant that I had last grow that went crazy at first, stunk to the heavens and turned out a dude. Well, there's always hope. Last time it was girls out of six. If I get two out of four this time, I'll be in good shape. 06/30/04
Starting second week of flower Down to three plants since I chopped a male. Of the three that are left, I have one that is definitely female, one that I'm 95% sure is a female, and one that I'm 95% sure is a male. Have to wait a couple more days for the preflowers to really show before I make the final cut. 07/14/04
My first girl This is the plant on the back right of the group shot. It is very healthy with the main growth shoot still intact. No tying down or cropping on this baby, my one definite female. After the third week of veg, I trimmed a few of the secondary branches from each plant and this is what it looks like now, one main cola with six or seven bud strong bud sites. 07/14/04
Fat-bottomed girl This plant was a freak from the start. This is the one with the wrinkled leaves. It's nodes were so close for the first weeks of veg that the plant grew into a pear shape, with multiple shoots taking off from the bottom four nodes and turning into potential budsites. Notice how they are concentrated at the lower half of the plant. 07/14/04
My two girls I think I did pretty good this time around, my second. With daytime temps of over 100 degrees indoor, I still managed two females. I heard that males are more likely the higher the mercury rises, but maybe if you have a lot of airflow you can overcome the heat. 07/18/04
Bushy mamma This is the plant on the left, the one that started out with the deformed leaves. I trimmed both plants special for this set-up...a thin top layer which will be harvested first, followed by a bushy bottom layer of (hopefully) medium-size buds that will come off 5-7 days later. 07/18/04
Bottom layer of bushy girl Lots of potential here. 07/18/04
Top of the right plant Watch it grow, grow, grow 07/18/04
Thinned out on the third day of I gave this girl a trim a few days after I started 12/12 so that the heat wouldn't hurt the top buds. The thin top layer lets the plants breathe easier next to the 400W HPS. The bushier growth on the bottom will finish up later than the top with several smaller but mature buds without the damaging effects of the heat. Daytime temps in this room exceed 90 degrees about half the time. 07/18/04
End of 3rd week 12/12 These are buds from the left plant. The girls are teenagers now... developing nicely but still...HANDS OFF! lol I ended up trimming the smaller buds from the lower branches because they were no where close to the top buds in terms of development. Hopefully this will help the top buds get even bigger. 07/27/04
Full view of left plant Eventhough I started flowering the plants when they were only a month old, they still outgrew the 40" tall box. I hung weights on their main stems, gradually increasing them day by day so that the plants don't rub against the wood. Next time I will go back to the tie-down method, just easier to control the vertical. 07/27/04
Left plant cola She was a little battered from growing into the top of the box. I came home one night and noticed that the air from the fan was making the top of the plant rock back and forth, grazing the pistils on the wood. She's a little ugly now, but over the next couple weeks before harvest, she'll get looking good as new again. 07/27/04
Right plant cola When I found the other plant had grown into the top of the box, this one wasn't quite there yet. I added a little extra to the weight on this plant (right) just in case. The buds on this plant are a little bigger, a little prettier. By the way, I took the plants out of the box to take a couple of these pictures, hence the funny angle. 07/27/04
Girl on the right, full view If I had a really nice camera, I could show how the preflowers, which are the oldest calyxes and pistils on the plant, have fattened up with lots of little trichomes all over them. Hopefully, that can continue to the larger buds up top. 07/27/04
We have bud very light green, very nice 08/02/04
