It is ok to plant however many seeds you want.
The best way i have found is to use a damp paper towel and place your seeds in that. Place that on a heating pad and make sure that the temp is around 75-80 and they should all sprout if they are good seeds.
Metal Halide lamps are best for vegatative growth but as my plants will concur HPS works too.
Mother plants are strictly grown for cloning so as to have a continuos harvest by constantly starting new plants.
I gave my plants 24 hours a day of a 250watt HPS for the first month(1'6") and then switched it over to a 400 watt HPS and now it is almost 3'8".
In a week i am going to start flowering my oldest plant and it will recieve 12hours dark and light.
