At the base of the stem, the skin is splitting from the ground up, about 1cm, and showing a light green, very moist, interior. The plant seems healthy. Is this bad, and if so, can I do anything about it? Also, (first time grower) the plant is about 3 in. tall and so far has 3 pairs of leaves, with a couple more barely visable- is this normal growth? Keep the tubes right on top of the plant, this will keep it from stretching for the light and might help prevent the stem from breaking. If the plant looks healthy you can help hold it up with a stick and put some string around where it is splitting. The growth sounds normal, you might want to top it at this point or put it on 12/12 now depending on how big you want the plant to get. Again look for a detailed guide coming soon.
