| Description | After a long time of talking and playing around with the idea of growing, in late June 2001 I started what is now my garden. I did a little experimentation. First, I used two (6in. X 24in.) window box planters to get my seeds started. In the first, I placed groups of 10 seeds together on top of the dirt the entire length of the box. About a total of 50 seeds. In the other, I placed the seeds under the dirt. I covered both with peat moss. The seeds placed on top of the dirt and covered with moss grew best. Next I brought them from my patio and placed them in my closet under 24hr florescent light (a total of 160W). About 10 seedlings grew to around 23in. tall. I cut the dirt like pieces of cake and placed them in four 15in pots. They grew very slow, tall, and thin. I started playing with some clippings and getting them to take root. In early Sep. Seed stays in the small onne about two weeks, then is moved to the bigger one for about 5-6 weeks, after this time they should be showing lots of roots cominng through the sides.This is when you place them into there drain pot with grow rocks. |

Water fills the tubs up untill the water reaches the holes in the side then drains back into the and then drains back into the reservoir, it does this four times a day. |

The Hydro Setup
Use one big Rubbermaid tub and two smaller tubs placed inside the large one. Holes on the sides let the water level be controlled. The water is oxygenated by several air bubblers (placed in all tubs that have standing water). The automatic timers turn every thing on and off. The watering cycle is 5gal of H2O every four days. Using hydro chemicals made by GENERAL HYDROPONICS ( pH DOWN----lowers pH, only takes a drop---$16.00 ---will last for ever, BOTANICARE ( Pure Blend for vegetative growth)--$18.00--- GENERAL HYDROPONICS ( FloraBloom for flowering).
