i have 2 120 watt plant lights and they are 3 feet above plant is this to close or to far?

put your hand by the top of the plant and see if you think it is too hot, it should not be above 85 degrees at the absolute most, so get a thermometer and get a temperature.....you want the lights as close as possible without harming the plants. If you see the leaves starting to brown take the lights farther away immediately, but three feet should be fine

Three feet is TOO FAR AWAY. Your lights are only 120 watts, they can be alot closer. I run 1000 watt lights and keep the lights about 6-8 inches away from the tops of the plants. If you notice that the leaves are burning, move the lights up. Hold your hand at the top of the plant. If it burns your hand it will burn the plant. If you are using 120 watt lights, and you have them 3 feet away, you will end up with under developed, stretched plants. You want to have the lights as close as you can with out burning. 120 watt lights will have to be quite close to be of any use, and almost touching the plants to do any damage. Don't alow you plants to stretch. Move the lights closer. And consider getting some better equipment.

Definatly drop em down some, you might want to include an occilating fan to keep em cool and strenthen the stems. I run a 430 watt at around 4 inches from the top of my plants.
