Hey, I am building a grow room that is 7 feet in height and 12 feet in width and length. I will be using high powered Ballast lights and I am affraid of a possible fire starting even though I am making the growroom out of fire retardent materials. Does anyone know of any simple sprinker type system, something like what is found commonly in buildings, that I could mount inside the room if the tempature reaches a dangerous level or something is ignitied . also, is there some sort of switch that could kill all power in the growroom if the tempature get's to high?

Well, you could just use a regular thermostat set on hi temps to kill the power to your room, maybe using a relay. Also ventilation is paramount in keeping your room temp down. As for automatic fire supression, I have seen some units in industrial areas that were basicly upside-down fire extinguishers with a solder (sprinkler-like) activator. I don't think thay are very common, but check with your local fire protection company. (NOT the fire dept.) If you install a "typical" sprinkler system, you could have problems. Much of the damage at the scenes of small fires are caused by water. In addition, they have to be maintained to work properly.
