Hey guys, I know its been a while since iv been on here just been on a little hiatus from the grow scene but now have a long overdue room that needs blowing up asap!
So heres the new setup: +I have a 7X9 room with one window +2 xtrasun 1000watt hoods w/ hortilux bulbs and Xtrasun 1000watt dual spectrum ballast +1 Hydrofarm 1000watt hood and ballast +6 and 8" vortex fans +lots of air pumps, water pumps and free time and a pretty good amount of money ![]() Sooooo... I really wanna grab another opinion from all you gurus on here that have helped me for years. What kind of hydro setup would you sudgest? (I was thinking flood tables with 6" rockwools on 2 layers of cocoa mat?) What kind of nutrients to run? Any other ideas/sudgestions/knowlege to spit at me? Like always im sure I will get endless knowlege back thank you all for your help! -Shaun

kinda depends on whether you're going to grow a few big ones or a lot of small ones

oh gosh... those are mostly opinion based questions.
I've seen very good results in an easy to maintain setup just your basic drip systems... I'm not an expert on ebb and flow but it should be comparable. nutrients i'd say if you want very high quality ones check out Advanced Nutrients. I currently use the Botanicare Floranova series, and it's done very well for me. basically you're getting to the questions every new grower has that no one can give a perfect answer on... I'd suggest either trying smaller scale versions or making extensive use of the search function on this site. there are a lot of people here who've done both ways with many different nutrients, so take a look at what the experienced growers are doing and what they say their problems were. also, scan the DIY page... learning how a hydro setup is built usually gives insight to its potential problems.

Well, since you're already starting with a room, I think you should go throughout your home and get temperature and humity readings. This will give you an idea of airflow in the home. You want a room that has relatively high humidity and stays between 60 and 70 (basements are great for this). If the room is in the basement you'll want to do something to block the view into that room from outside if you're planning to run those lamps in that room. In the interest of energy usage I would probably only run the big lights when I have something to put into flower. When I did, if I were planning to run that light in that room I would probably only use one 1000w because I prefer to work with the environment I have, and a lot of lamps means a lot of electricity, ambient heat, and water consumption. Keep your lamps on timers, and in the morning when you hear the ballast kick on, bring your vegging clones into the room with the HPS and then move them back out under flourescents before it cuts off at night. Run a dehumidifier in your "flower room" at night to keep mold away. The other room would be relatively higher humidity and only run flourescents (either CFL's or T5's though I've heard interesting things about the 4'shoplights with cool tubes). Run any fans in the room(s) you have your plants vegging or flowering taking into context of the airflow of the home.
