Check the FAQ on this site or Overgrow.com, or check out the Asked (Ed Rosenthal) archives.
You harvest when the buds are nice and full... there are multiple waves of bud production. The hairs will "dry", then another wave of buds with trichomes comes on top of that. So, just when it looks ready to pick, it may not be - it will just get bigger. What helps is to have a pocket microscope aka eye loupe. They sell them at Radio Shack. There is a 30x model and a 100x model. The 30x will do. They are both about the same price, real cheap, like 8-10 bucks. What you do is zoom in on the buds and look at the crystals. When you see orange/amber tinted crystals, that means you are getting close. When about 40-60%, more or less, of the crystals are at this stage, you can harvest. It's all up to you. If you want a more pure THC high, harvest when you have more white crystals. I definately recommend the pocket microscope from Radio Shack.

I have several females outside. All of them are unknown Strains. The one plant is very odd compared to the others. I call him Smokey and hes about 3 1/2 feet tall. Where the stalk starts from the base of the soil it has another stalk almost growing like a poison ivy vine around it. Looks and smells sweet but Ive never seen anything like it ! Anyone out there know whats going on

The "vine" is probably a creeper. Are there thorns on it? If it's not pot, you must chop.

The Vine is growing from the main stem. Its not growing in the dirt. I dont know what it is
