View Full Version : Flowering pause, or early finish?

I'm 4 weeks into flowering, and the buds seem to have all but stopped growing. This strain is supposed to take 8-10 weeks to finish. It's been several months since I've been at this point, so I don't remember (geezer memory!), but don't they sort of pause and take a breather before the last burst of bud growth? They're getting a light fert with Schultz 10-50-10 every other watering, and Superthrive with every watering. Also, when you flush at the end of flowering, can you continue with Superthrive?

some do pause for a break.what's the percentage of hairs or what color are the trichomes.you know superthrive will also prolong flowering.

The first plants to flower are starting to turn brown hairs, but I don't think that's a reliable indicator because those two plants got a little too close to the lights and got lightly burnt on top. Maybe I'll just take the tops off those two and let the rest keep going and just watch them.

New growth stops about two to four weeks before harvest but you should still see those puppies swell, once 75% of the pistils have turned brown, orange, purple thatshould be your lot.....enjoy!

Just wait and watch for any male flowers.
You could put them under grow cycle to enlage the buds not long, if you think they are tooo small. My Indica buds doubled in size in the last3 weeks without light change. Just good and plentyful feed.
Patience then pleasure.

I would agree. You'll notice a big difference in trichome production and denser buds in the later weeks.I don't give what seed banks say about finishing times much credit because different growing conditions can regulate finish time*.

Mrs B i bet that at 4 weeks they have stopped most of the new growth. Wait till the calyxs swell up and look so fat as to burst. You should not have anything ready at 4 weeks, The turning hairs are most likely from heat.
Superthrive is to be used during veg, Ive talked to many gurus about its use during flowering and the fact that it does delay ripening. They make miracle hormones for the flowering cycle, I cannot think of the names right now but they are out there.
They are just going to swell up in the next weeks.
Enjoy your harvest Mrs. B http://www.growkind.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I will be chopping the same time you will ;)

Sounds normal to me Aunt B. I have seen just what you are seeing at the same time in almost every plant I have had. They will start to take off very soon...watch ;) I also agree with Rasta. ST in flower increases flower times. Having done a grow without ST in flower the plants ripened much quicker...at least a week sooner.

A 1 month crop cycle would be lovely:smile:

Thanks for the advice guys, Superthrive is going back into the cabinet for a few weeks. BTW, I just took another look at them and found that about 6 fat buds have merged into one BIG bud!

If the Superthrive prolongs flowering, doesn't that let the buds get bigger before they ripen? That sounds like a good thing to me.

They are filling in nicely now. Lots of medium and large sized buds merging into colas, and lots of frosting on the leaves. These Cali O's seem to be the perfect strain-- they veg like sativas with lots of branching, and the top colas are very dense like indicas. They would be perfect for SCROG. I just topped them to make them branch out more for a bushier effect and more budsites. 3 more weeks and the colas willl be like bananas! I don't have any pics to post, but they look just like Apollo 11s.
