Ok pplz, *I have just started a new garden. *I have never tried this before, but did a lot of research before begining. *I have a 400 watt setup with hydroponics using a 3-12-6 mix every other day (1/2 tsp./ gal). *One of the 2 plants are wilting on the main leaves, but not on the buds, the second plant is doing good, but the buds are taking forever. *The total growth cycle to date has been: 18 hours on 6 off, for 5 weeks, then changed to 12 on 12 off for the past 3 weeks. *The buds are small and seem not to be growing. *Any help would be appreciated. *http://www.growkind.com/gardenview.gk?id=817

Your plants look great keep up the good work. Please tell me that tall plant is a Sativa. My god that thing is huge.

What type of bulb is that? Looks like my HPS, but just checking...you should have HPS for flower. Your plants look nice....looks like a high sativa variety, whats the strain? If it is high sativa, they can have really long flowering periods (up to 12 weeks or more) and less massive buds on average. It wouldnt hurt to have a 1000 watt HPS in there if you can pay for it....think about this - if the average yield increase on your plants is an ounce over the 400 watt light, then going out and buying a 1000 watter would be quite worth it, an ounce of good weed is almost the same price as a 1000 watt HPS (if it does increase yield with that few plants...I dont know I am just conjecturing, could 1000 watts be overkill for just two plants? What does anyone else think?) Your room is completely light sealed during the dark period I assume. What's the wilt pattern look like? take a close-up pic just for the hell of it....Whats the average temp with lights on and lights off, airflow into/out of room? Do you use superthrive? (I don't know if this even matters as much right now...CG would know, he is Mr. Superthrive) Get super detailed....could be that they are growing just fine too.

Oh yeah - think about possible trimming some of the fanleaves half way or so to get some more light down to the lower bud sites, especially on that tall one...or you can even kind of train the fan leaves around the bud sites so that they arent covering them up....your light penetration with a 400 watt light isnt going to be all that great, especially with the height of that tall lanky one...I'd even consider bending it to the side and slowly training it downwards and move the light closer if you can..or at least put the shorter one up on a brick or a stand so that it gets more light...or else Shorty will get 'short-changed', if ya know what I mean...she needs to be all she can be...if you look up the distance from the light to lumen per sqare cm ratio thing-a-ma-bobber, you will see that it is important to get it as close as possible.....plants look great - took another look at them....yeah, if you go with a heavy indica variety you would have way bigger buds by now.....but remember - quality vs quantity....which is more important...not that indicas arent quality, its all about personal taste, but you know what I mean...if you dont get giant nuggets, with those, who cares?

Thanks for all of your comments. To be honest with you all, I am not sure what the strands are. I have been saving misc. seeds for a long time and just decided to pull one out. I hope that the tall one is Sativa, I have heard good things about it.
As far as the light, it is an HPS 400W bulb. Hey, one question, can I use a 1000W bulb in place of the 400W? I don't want to have to get a new set up, the light I have cost me over $200.00.
Thanks again,

No!! You can't put that 1000W in place of 400. You'll have to get another ballast set up as well.

yep...another $500 for a top of the line setup....which may entail other problems with it, like too much heat, too much electricity use, etc.....forget I said anything and stick with the light you have, just try to maximize its potential....definitely get shorty up on something or other

You definitely have sativas going there. Most likely hybrids a pure sativas are hard to come by. Don't worry about the buds. They will amaze you at how fast they can put the weight on. Those look normal for 3 weeks in.
