Well, I'm stting out to gather materials to build my very first aero-cloner. Exciting day! One question. The building instructions I found on overgrow.com explain the importance of having a timer hooked up to the air pump, but they don't say why or at what intervals to set the timer. Can anyone who uses one please explain what time schedule the air pump should be on?

:alien:A timer isn't required. Leave your airpump on at all times.:light:

So why do the instructions say to buy a timer? What's the timer for?

The timer is used for contests,.. you know.. "Who can hold the hits in the longest" http://www.growkind.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

The timer is absolutely necessary! I set mine for 15 on/ 30 off.

You NEED the timer, you can also set it on 30 on 60 off. The timer I bought uses 30 minute intervals.

So I need to have the timer set for 30 on/60 off all day long? The timers I have only have three six pegs - 3 on and 3 off - so I can't make it turn on and off more than three times a day. Do I need to get a new timer? Some people say just leave it on all the time. Does it really make a difference? If someone could explain the routine (including an explanation of why it should be that way), I'd really appreciate it.

:alien:I can see why u need a timer(in tandem with a waterpump) for an ebb&flow hydro setup.
:confused:But i don't understand why would an airpump need one? U should NEVER turn off your airpump. Period! Can anyone explain the benefits of turnin' off your airpump in an aerocloner setup please!?!

If the airpump stays on, the cuttings are living thier lives in a fully h2o saturated atmosphere. By cycling the airpump, you reduce the overall humidity enough to force the cuttings to root in search of nutes. Kind of "no pain, no gain".

Clones are like kids....if you spoil them you'll have hell to pay.
